In a world dominated by short lifecycles and recycling, Thalen & Thalen delivers creations that will stand the test of time. They translate their love for silver into creations that reflect their passion and personalities and invite the viewers to follow them on the path of life they have chosen. Rob and Jaap Thalen are guided by a quest to pureness; purity in their choice of material and shapes, but also in their ways of expression. They look for shapes that invite to be touched, simple basic shapes in the right proportions. From a technical point of view they strive to create their works from one single sheet of silver, and avoid joints unless absolutely necessary. This approach may seem limiting, but for Thalen & Thalen it is a challenge to explore the boundaries of the material and an opportunity to test their skills to the limit. They have just designed a monumental Reclining Figure, which will take 200 kilograms of silver to be realized and will be the largest sculpture ever made in one single piece of silver. The Dutch father and son duo is traveling the world and an exposition in the US is coming up in 2020.
